What does "redox" mean?

What "Redox" Does For Your Water Supply

Redox is a shortened form of "oxidation-reduction," a process used to treat contaminated water. In this process, granulated copper and zinc-based alloys create an electro-chemical reaction. Electrons are transferred between molecules, and new elements are created. Some harmful contaminants like chlorine are changed into harmless components and are carried safely through the water supply.
