Unfiltered or untreated water is that is supplied to a home or business is referred to as "source water." Essentially, this means that the water comes from the "Source" of a well or municipal plant. Usually, the best use of source water is outdoor applications. Water your lawn is a great example. Gardens can also be watered with source water, but you my wish to test it on more sensitive plants like certain flower varieties.
