What should I look for in a water filtration system?

What to Look For in a Water Filtration System

Water filtration systems are rated based on the size of the holes in the filtration screens. Larger holes let in larger contaminants, so smaller holes will filter most effectively. Water filtration systems may provide you with an "absolute" hole size and a "nominal" hole size. Absolute hole size is the measurement of the largest hole in the filter. The nominal hole rating refers to the average hole size. When shopping for a water filtration system, pay attention to the absolute hole size only. The United States Environmental Protection Agency recommends an absolute of one micron for the best level of filtration.
