Is distillation a good method for purifying water?

Distillation Water Filteration Systems

Distillation, also called demineralization, is a good method of water filtration if you are concerned about too many minerals in your water. Distillation water filtration systems work by heating the water until it becomes steam. The minerals in the water are unable to distill and are left behind. The steam is then transferred to another area and cooled until it is liquefied. Many people don't like the taste of distilled water, complaining that it has a "flat" taste.

Distillation is ineffective for getting rid of herbicides and pesticides. However, running the water through a filter that targets these chemicals before distilling will take care of this problem.
